Results: Deontay Wilder and Jake Paul Win

Jake Paul UD10 Julio Cesar Chavez Jr

Paul defeats a former titleholder in Chavez Jr. The fight wasn’t great, but it is an accomplishment for Paul.

Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez UD12 Yuniel Dorticos

I get that knockouts are fun, but Ramirez is the most battle-tested cruiserweight currently. After yet another hard-fought victory, Ramirez appears to be once again overlooked after making a professional title defense.

Raul Curiel TKO4 Victor Rodriguez

Curiel, coming off a draw to Alexis Rocha, found himself in another firefight. This time, he had enough power to stop Rodriguez.

Julian Rodriguez TKO10 Avious Griffin

After a fired-up press conference, Rodriguez outboxed Griffin and stopped him in the final seconds. It was dead even on two of the cards heading into the 10th and final round. Rodriguez was a one-time Top Rank prospect who lost to Jose Pedraza. This win over the unbeaten Griffin puts him back in the mix at welterweight.

Floyd Schofield TKO1 Tevin Farmer

Schofield became a star. There is a lot to unpack, but he stopped a very good champion, something to good up-and-comers in IBF lightweight titleholder Raymond Muratalla and William Zepeda couldn’t do. Schofield did what he wanted in this fight and moved into the conversation with the elite of the division with this performance

The rest of the MVP card results: Holly Holm returned to boxing, winning a 10-round unanimous decision over Yolanda Vega. I would imagine a big fight is around the corner for her. Joel Iriarte was tested against veteran Kevin Johnson, with Iriarte winning a unanimous decision. Rene Alvarado upset previously unbeaten Victor Morales Jr, 2024 U.S. Olympic heavyweight Joshua Edwards recorded a first-round knockout and Alexander Gueche won an eight-round unanimous decision over Vincent Avina.

Wilder returns to the win column.

Deontay Wilder TKO7 Tyrrell Anthony Herndon

Wilder bounces back to the win column on a regional pay-per-view. He looks like he has been through some battles at this point, but he got the win. Now we see what is next.

Other stuff from that card: 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Nico Hernandez got a win on the card, heavyweight Gustavo Trujillo stopped Lateef Kayode, and journeyman Aaron Casper outpointed local favorite Jeff Page Jr.

Other notable results:

Christian Mbilli stopped Maciej Sulecki in one round. A big performance from Mbilli, making him a real guy at super middleweight. Christopher Guerrero also got a final-round knockout over Sandy Messaoud. I was impressed with women’s junior welterweight Leila Beaudoin stopping Elhem Mekhaled in the sixth round.

Michal Cieslak stopped former titleholder Jean Pascal in the fourth round of a cruiserweight fight to pick up the interim WBC cruiserweight title. Cieslak dominated from the opening bell.
