Notes: Next month I will list my mid-year awards. Nakatani and Opetaia with two wins in 2025, enter the conversation, despite David Benavidez and Jaron “Boots” Ennis having bigger wins. I talk about this in the audio segment.
Junto Nakatani TKO6 Ryosuke Nishida
Nakatani continues to stop champions and top contenders. Nakatani is a three-division titleholder. He is a clear pound-for-pound fighter. Nakatani has two wins and is firmly in the mix to be the “Fighter of the Year”.
Notable undercard results:
Tenshin Nasukawa UD10 Victor Santillan
I was wrong, Tenshin is a talent. I saw him as a gimmick at first. I was wrong. He is competing against high-level fighters, early in his career. Consider me a fan.
In Australia…
Jai Opetaia KO5 Claudio Squeo
Opetaia gets his second win of 2025. Both wins are knockouts. Opetaia, a cruiserweight titleholder, could find himself in the “Fighter of the Year” conversation if he were to fight and beat Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez. Easier said than done.
