Schedule: MVP Puts On A Doubleheader

Most Valuable Promotions is building a solid developmental series, and now it is front and center for two nights.

Let’s breakdown the two cards.

Friday night (titled night one) will have the prelims start at 2:00PM PST starting on MVP’s YouTube page, with the main card transitioning to DAZN.

The main event will feature unbeaten featherweight Jan Paul Rivera against Daniel Bailey. Rivera is promising, and Bailey has been linked to fights off the record that fell through. A good main event and a chance for Rivera to take a leap in a division that is ever-changing. 2024 U.S. Olympian Jahmal Harvey will make his pro debut, and as someone who has known him for some time, he is special. A middleweight fight between Yoelivs Gomez and Edwin Humaine might be way too much fun. Gomez is a talent, but can tend to slug, and Humaine can only slug. The result could be a firefight. Local favorite lightweight Corey Marksman will be featured on the card.

Night two will take place Saturday, with the first bout taking place at 2:45 PM PST starting on MVP’s YouTube page, with the main card transitioning to DAZN.

The main event is unbeaten flyweight Yankiel Rivera will face Angelino Cordova with the vacant WBA interim flyweight title on the line. The outright belt is held by Ricardo Sandoval, who recently upset Kenshiro Teraji. Rivera is a special fighter, and Cordova is a puncher. The undercard will see the interim WBA junior middleweight titleholder Yoenis Tellez back in action against his No.1 contender Abass Baraou. Junior welterweight Jamaine Ortiz will be featured on the card, as well as women’s lightweight Stephanie Han. Lightweight contender Lucas Bahdi will face former titleholder Roger Gutierrez. WBA junior bantamweight titleholder Jasmine Artiga will face Linn Sandstrom in what could be an interesting fight.

Other notable bouts:

I was too late to talk about the Australia card.

A good domestic British fight takes place on DAZN Saturday as unbeaten Jack Rafferty will face Mark Chamberlain. It is the type of sink-or-swim domestic fight that creates a contender. You've got to love it. Skye Nicolson will also be featured on the card in her second fight at junior featherweight.

Murat Gassiev will fight in Miami in a heavyweight bout against Jeremiah Milton, an Olympic trials silver medalist in 2019. The winner could land something meaningful.
