This week on the podcast I have two great guests.
First, Zach of the Unofficial Scorecard Podcast (https://theunofficialscorecardpodcast.libsyn.com/ep-72-eric-raskin) joins the show to preview Wednesday's fight between former titleholder Keith Thurman and Brock Jarvis (which I am not sure how to watch in the United States), and a flyweight unification bout between Kenshiro Teraji-Seigo Yuri Akui which is on ESPN+ early Thursday morning.
That is followed by the best in the business, Sean Bastow of BTR Boxing Podcast Network
Sean helps us understand what we show now about WBA featherweight titleholder Nick Ball's fight against TJ Doheny on Saturday, which is broadcast on DAZN. Then, we talk about middleweight Austin "Ammo" Williams against Patrice Volny
which occurs Saturday night in the U.S. on DAZN as well.
The Boxing TV Schedule for March 10-16
Wednesday
Keith Thurman-Brock Jarvis
How to watch: I am unsure. It is happening in Australia and hasn’t had much media attention in the United States
What You Should Know: Former welterweight titleholder will face Jarvis, a regional Australian fighter. All signs point to a Tim Tszyu fight if Thurman wins, which was set for last year, but Thurman had to withdraw, because of an injury. The fight is strange and marks Thurman’s return to the ring after a three-year break.
Thursday
Kenshiro Teraji-Seigo Yuri Akui
How to watch: 1am PST on ESPN+
What You Should Know: Teraji is one of the most exciting fighters in the sport – an all-action fighter at flyweight. The bout will be a unification of two titles as the WBC and WBA titles will be on the line.
Undercard:
WBO flyweight titleholder Anthony Olascuaga will face Hiroto Kyoguchi. Olascuga looks to be a potential breakout star in the division, he trains in L.A. with Rudy Hernandez and is a teammate of Junto Nakatani. WBO junior flyweight titleholder Shokichi Iwata will face Rene Santiago on this card as well.
Friday
Euri Cedeno-Ulices Tovar Rivera
How to watch: DAZN, unsure of start time
What You Should Know: Cedeno is a good Olympian, who is entering into a contender phase of his career.
Undercard: Lightweight Joseph Adorno, junior welterweight Bryce Mills and light heavyweight Atif Oberlton are notable fighters on the undercard.
Saturday
Nick Ball-TJ Doheny
How to watch: 11am pst, DAZN
What You Should Know: WBA featherweight titleholder Nick Ball will take on Doheny, a former Naoya Inoue opponent. Doheny is better than people think, but Ball is one of the best in the division.
Undercard:
Bantamweight Andrew Cain faces Charlie Edwards in an interesting British fight, and a junior featherweight bout between Brad Strand-Ionut Baluta could steal the show for those looking for a good fight.
Austin Williams-Patrice Volny
How to watch: 5pm pst, DAZN
What You Should Know: A 50-50 type fight as Williams is a great puncher and Volny is coming off a big win over Steven Butler in Canada.
Undercard:
Edgar Berlanga will face Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz in a super middleweight fight. It seems to be a fight to keep Berlanga busy. 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Omari Jones will turn pro on this card. Welterweight Jose Roman will rematch Jalil Hackett. They fought in December and Roman upset Hackett. Other notable names, welterweight Jamaine Ortiz will be in action and junior lightweight Carlos De Leon will fight early on.
