Schedule: Brian Norman Jr-Jin Sasaki

Thursday on ESPN+, WBO welterweight titleholder Brian Norman will face Jin Sasaki. Norman will travel to Japan for the fight. Norman and Sasaki are both offensive-minded. My big question: can Sasaki take Norman’s power? This stands out as the most notable fight of the week.

Also, Saturday on ESPN+.

Middleweight Vito Mielnicki Jr. will headline an ESPN card against Kamil Gardzielik. Mielnicki is coming off a draw to Conor Coyle, but is a popular fighter in his region. Gardzielkik’s fights have all been in Poland, so it is hard to tell what level he is.

Undercard:

Heavyweight Damian Knyba will be featured on the card. He is also a good ticket seller in the region. He is best known for having really long arms.

The fight everyone is waiting on a middleweight encounter between Jahi Tucker and Lorenzo Simpson. Tucker continues to take tough fights, and Simpson was once viewed as one of the most promising prospects, is coming in on the B-side despite his accolades in the amateurs. A very good fight, and how can you not like Tucker for taking this type of fight over and over again?

Other notable names on this card include junior welterweight Brandun Lee, junior middleweight Dwyke Flemmings Jr., heavyweight amateur stand-out Jamar Talley, junior middleweight Kahshad Elliott, and bantamweight Emmanuel Chance.

Other Notable bouts:

Friday on DAZN, David Stevens vs. Petr Khamukov is a good TV fight against fighters who need a boost to their career. Stevens was knocked out by Joeshon James, but got a split-decision loss to ‘Bek The Bully’ in November. Khamukov is undefeated, but has a methodical sparring style. A win puts the winner in the mix.

Saturday on DAZN, a sink-or-swim fight for junior featherweights Shabaz Masoud and Peter McGrail. Masoud enters, coming off a win over Liam Davies. McGrail is a popular and heavily hyped Olympian who was knocked out by Ja’Rico O’Quinn. A big crossroads fight for McGrail, who was being compared to Lomachenko by some to start his career.

Galal Yafai will face veteran Francisco Rodriguez in a flyweight bout. Yafai was a great amateur, but came in a bit recklessly to the pro game and had a rough start. Rodriguez is a little long in the tooth, but a tricky vet to test Yafai.

Saturday on UFC Fight Pass, junior middleweight Callum Walsh returns in Santa Ynez, California, against Elias Espadas. The bout is a good one as Espadas fought 360 Promotions’ Sadriddin Akhmedov to a draw earlier this year.

Junior welterweight Cain Sandoval is the co-feature, and light heavyweight Umar Dzambekov will face Roamer Alexis Angulo. Angulo upset Anthony Sims Jr. five years ago, and is a dangerous guy. “Right Hook Roxy” and Daniel Barrera are also on the card.

A good club show level main event that hopefully gets a form of streaming is Tre'Sean Wiggins vs. Dakota Linger
